Are You Still Using A Dial-Up Modem For Your Internet Access?

In a time of fast Internet this and fast Internet that I was wondering if there were still people that are still using dial-up for their internet access?

I ask this question because I know that their are still people out there who are still using older computers and older computer parts.

When I used to frequent the Usenet Newsgroups I was always fascinated by those people that were still using Windows 3.1 so I know that not everyone has the latest in Internet gadgets.

Personally I am using a high-speed USB Internet but I'm always in the market for free Internet access. And I still haven't ruled out the possibility about using dial-up Internet as a backup.

What Was Your Very First Job?

Here's an interesting question I saw online:

What Was Your First Job?

My first job was that of nurse's aide. You see my mother was a nurse and she was working in this nursing home and she got me a job there.

It was just after I graduated high school and it was my first real-paying job. I think that I stayed there for only a year or so and then I moved on to working at a nursing temp agency which I really kind of hated because they would send you everywhere all over the city and they took a big percentage of my paycheck.

Now this was some time ago and the nurse's aide field has changed a lot. I don't even think they call them nurse's aides anymore. Now they are known as CNA's - which I'm thinking means certified nursing assistant.

Fortunately now I'm working from home and I absolutely love it!

So tell us what was your first job?

What do you do to relax?

Saw this very intersting question posted online and I thought that I would ask it here.

What do you do to relax? Goodness knows that we are living in a stressful world and we need all the relaxation that we can get!

What do I do to relax? Well there are a couple of things. One of the things that I love to do is to take a nice long, hot bubble bath! Another thing that I love to do is to drink a nice hot cup of tea! I have been experimenting with different types of teas and right now I'm trying green tea for the first time. I have grown quite fond of ginseng tea and now have to remember to put it on my grocery list.

There are a lot of other things that I like to do to relax such as light a scented candle and listen to some soothing music.

So what is it that you do to relax?

What Brings You Joy?

I have a blog about the law of attraction because I am a very big fan of it and I also want to become a master of it as well.

However someone on Twitter posted a very interesting question and I thought that I would post this question here.

What brings you joy?

For me doing my work as a grant researcher brings me joy because it is work that I can do from home and the only boss that I have is me! So many people think that there are no grant programs out there that can help them but all they have to do is do some researching online and they are surely bound to find some grant programs that they may be eligible to apply for. I'm so grateful to have work that I love doing and I am so glad that I am able to do this work from home.

Another thing that brings me joy is my 3d work. I'm just learning 3d and I have a blog called The 3D Beginner - that's me.

Gardening brings me joy. Eating chocolate brings me joy. Enjoying a nice hot cup of tea brings me joy.

What brings you joy?

Do You Have Any New Year's Resolutions?

Do you have any New Year's Resolutions? What are they?

What are mine? Well one of my goals is to just make more money!

I have been learning a lot about the law of attraction and I am also becoming quite a fan of it as well.

I want to attract more money into my life and that is what one of my New Year's resolutions is going to be.

So, do you have any New Year's resolutions and if so what are they?

Do You Vote?

I just heard on my local news that only 30% of registered voters turned out for our November 2nd elections! I sort of kind of found that news shocking because I thought that more people voted than that!

Voting and participating in the elections is a very high priority in the area that I live in - which is LaMott, PA. So many people in my area turn out to vote - including both the young and the old! It is also the time when everybody greets everyone even if you saw them just a few hours ago!

I have to admit that I didn't start voting until later in life - like somewhere in my 30's - don't ask me why I waited so long because I honestly couldn't tell you!

But now that I am a registered voter I have not missed voting in one election since I became a registered voter!

I know that some people gripe about voting and I even have a relative who has told me that he doesn't vote because he just doesn't think that it will do any good! I disagree with him however! And I have even tried to convince him to vote. He is a veteran and has received many different kinds of government grant programs that have helped him financially - especially with his medical bills. But still he doesn't vote????

So my question to you is do you vote? Have you ever voted in the past but stopped doing so? If so, why?

Do You Think That You Could Ever Be A Debt Collector?

I just got finished blogging about an online article called "Confessions Of A Debt Collector" to my Money Basics Blog 101 and the article was very interesting.

The article mentioned that the average salary of a debt collector can be as much as $12 per hour and I know that a lot of people who are out of work right now would be interested in taking that kind of job if for no other reason than the salary.

However this sort of job does have its disadvantages and one of them is that there is a quota that you have to fill - in other words - you have to collect a certain amount of money. Debt collectors also receive a commission on the money that they actually collect.

So the question is do you think that you could be a debt collector?

For me personally one of the jobs that I hated the most was selling Time Life books over the phone! I did not last at that job very long because I believe that I only sold one set of books! So I do not think that I would like taking a job as a debt collector.

So what do you think? Could YOU be a debt collector?

6 Teaspoons Of Sugar?

I read an interesting fact online about how much sugar a woman should have per day. The amount is 6 teaspoons of sugar per day!

I thought about how much sugar I consume in a day. I try to just use 2 teaspoons of sugar with a cup of coffee or tea - mostly tea because coffee always kind of makes me jittery!

But that is just for the beverages. What about the sugar that I have with my cereal and the sugar that is in the soda that I drink? I think that is way above the suggested limit!

Don't know what I would do without my morning tea though but reading about how much sugar one should consume has me thinking about cutting down.

So do you meet or exceed the suggested amount of sugar that one is suppose to consume per day?

How Do You Think President Obama Is Doing So Far?

I realize that in some respects that it is just too early to tell how well the President is doing!

In some ways I think he means well but this is such a big financial mess that our country is in! The President gave money to the banks to help people to avoid foreclosures and what did the banks do? They were still doing foreclosures! I think that for a change, President Obama should help those peoples and families who are facing foreclosures on their homes by stopping ALL foreclosures for at least 4 - 5 years! Why? Because people are losing their jobs meaning that it becomes harder to pay for their bills including their mortgages.

I realize that the "cash for clunkers" program was a good idea to stimulate the economy but a lot of people still didn't have enough money to still buy a new car.

In my own personal opinion I think that the President should try helping the PEOPLE of the United States instead of helping the companies and big businesses!

What do YOU think?

What Element Are You?

What Element or Elements are You Most Aligned With?

Here is my quiz answer:

You are most aligned with FIRE and WATER.
Fire represents energy, tool for transformation, connection to personal power, and inner strength. Water represents emotional release, intuition, and inner reflection.

The elements you are not as strongly connected to are air and earth. Air represents intellect, mental intention, and connection to universal life force. Earth represents grounding, foundation of life, substance, connection to life path, and family roots.

What Did You Have For Breakfast Today?

there used to be a time when I skipped breakfast because I was usually so much in a rush! But now as I'm getting older I realize that this is not a good thing! I'm sure that you have heard of the saying that "breakfast is the most important meal of the day - right?

This morning - in an effort to eat more healthier - I had an orange (vitamin C) and some toast with butter and jelly and of course my morning cup of coffee!

Are You A Night Owl?

Are you nocturnal?

There was a time when I was a DJ that I used to work the night shift - 12am-6am - and I was quite comfortable with it except when someone was knocking at the door or the phone rang!

I also used to work the same shift at a supermarket putting away the groceries. I liked that shift because you could wear any kind of comfortable clothes that you wanted!

Of course I have also had jobs where I have worked during "normal" business hours too!

Now since I work from home doing grant research my hours are pretty much what I want them to be!

However I realize that there is a whole world of people who work at night and sleep during the day. Are you one of them?

Name A Favorite Movie Of Yours....

One of my favorite movies is a movie called "Contact". It stars Jodie Foster and it is a movie about a woman scientist who continues to believe in what she is trying to do even though it seems the people around her don't!

(This movie also has a sub-plot about government grants and getting funding for one's endeavors and since I do grant research this interests me more!)

There is also a romantic sub-plot as well with a good-looking male actor as well!

I like this movie because it just seems so much like real life in that when someone has a dream or feels strongly about it there seems to always be an obstacle or someone or something that gets in the way. There is even the possibility of others trying to get you to give up on your dreams - but yet the main character continues to pursue her dream!

As a Dream Job Consultant, I truly believe that reaching one's dreams is absolutely possible! A lot of people dream about working from home. I do it and so do a lot of other people so this is something that is entirely possible! You can find out more about working from home by going to my Working From Home Blog.

I'm happy to say that the movie does have a good ending - but I won't give away the entire storyline.

So.....what is one of YOUR favorite movies and why?

Name 5 Things That You Are Grateful For.....

Because of these tough economic and financial times people are feeling down and hopeless although there have been some cases of full-blown hopefulness and out and out financial miracles, I thought it would be a good idea to say what we are grateful for.

Actually I can't take credit for this because I saw the question asked on another website and thought that it would be a good question to add here!

So:

Name 5 Things That You Are Grateful For Today

For me:

  • I am grateful for my home and love the area that I live in!

  • I am grateful to be able to be online and be able to work online as well! Even though it may not have crossed your mind, there are still a lot of people that are able to afford and/or have a computer in their home - much less be able to afford Internet access! So I'm grateful for being able to have a computer in my home and I am grateful that I have online access!

  • I am grateful my dinner that I had tonight! It wasn't much because I was kind of in a hurry to get back to work online but it does remind me that I am grateful for the dinner I was able to enjoy tonight!

  • I am grateful for the family that I still have left! Both my parents have passed away but I still have my brothers and sisters and we talk together quite often!

  • I'm grateful for being reminded to make a list such as this because as the online article has said - we should count our blessing whatever they may be!

So, what are 5 things that you are grateful for?

Do You Do Your Own Income Taxes Or Does Someone Else Do Them For You?

I have to admit that I have worked for both the IRS and for H & R Block where I was a tax preparer so I do my own income taxes myself. That doesn't mean that its not hard for me sometimes - especially now that I work for myself!

I have 3 different sets of tax forms to fill out yearly. The first is my own area's local tax where I have to pay a 1% tax on my earned income -

and then of course there is my state and federal tax forms that have to be filled out.

I also have to admit that I do my taxes the old fashioned way which is to fill out the forms by hand and then mail them in. By as I was doing my taxes for this year I was toying with the idea of doing them online. I haven't used any of those tax preparation softwares like Turbo Tax - although I don't rule that out for the future.

What Book Are You Currently Reading?

If you look on the right side of this blog you will see my Shelfari widget that shows the books that I have currently read.

Right now I'm reading a book written by Dr. Phil and it is a book on self-improvement. Most of us could use more self-improvement and I was curious about what it is that he had written. I'm more than half-way through this book and its mostly about identifying the "demons" in your life - that way you can deal with them and move on. The book talks about getting back to your authentic self as opposed to your fictional self. Explained further it just means getting back to the real you instead of trying to be what someone else wants you to be!

Dr. Phil used his own self as an example saying that he became a doctor only because that is what his father did and he felt that being a doctor was expected of him. Some years later he came to realize that he was not happy with what he was doing and decided to go on and do what he wanted to do - and now he says that he couldn't be more happier - so he is trying to teach others to be the same way and be happy.

Are You Ready For The Switch To Digital TV?

Are you ready for the switch to digital tv? I know that I'm not!

While I decided to post about this I got the notion to do a little research online and I come to find out that the switch to digital tv has been extended!

I was hoping and praying that this would happen! I am definitely not ready!

The odd thing about it is that I remember during President Obama's first days in office that there was a mention of him wanting to extend the date to June - mostly because he was concerned about seniors and just those who couldn't financially afford it.

It may be hard to believe but there are those that just can't afford the switch to digital tv! I, myself have a few options and since I have Dish TV then that means that I am ok. However there is one tv set in the kitchen that is on its last legs and since I will have to buy a new tv to replace it I really won't need the digital converter box - but I am still going to get the 2 that the government provides for with those coupons that allow 2 per household - since I am a great believer in government doings since I am a grant researcher.

There are a few other issues however. I have one of those smaller tv/radio-like boom boxes and I don't know how the switch is going to affect that little small tv. Plus I have a tv in the basement that is probably more than 20 years old and it still works great!

Oh well, at least for now I have til June to decide!

What Is Your Inner Color?

Your Inner Color is Green

Your Personality: You are a high acheiver who is very competitive. You're bound to reach your goals, no matter how lofty.

You in Love: Picky with high standards, it's hard to find your match. You need someone as driven as you are!

Your Career: You need a high profile, challenging career to satisfy you. Consider finance, sales, or running your own company.

Here is a quiz that I took some time ago. It's very interesting and I thought that you might like to try it out yourself.

Basically the results seem quite accurate for me - LOL!

"I'm bound to reach my goals - Well goodness knows that I have a lot of goals! I am also learning more about (and have become a big fan) of the

law of attraction

As far as my "love" prospects go - I'm a big fan of romantic movies and the like and I guess that - yes - my standards are kind of high - LOL!

My Career - I am currently doing grant research and consultations. I am also a Dream Job Consultant as well. I decided to get in grant research because there were just too many conflicting information about government grants and whether or not there was anything such as "free government grants. I found out on my own that there WAS such a thing as free government grants - meaning being given money that you did not have to pay back! I also had found out that I had been doing this on my own even before I decided to become professional at it!

The "Dream Job Consultation" thing came about from the fact that I work at home and I found that so many other people wanted to work from home too and if they could find a way to earn money working from home that they would be happy about that. But it goes a little more deeper than just wanting to be able to work from home! Dream Job Consultation means that I help you go after your dream job - and that can run the range of wanting to become and actor all the way to wanting to become a zoologist!

What I have come to learn is that people may think that their dream jobs are silly or not obtainable but there is probably already someone else doing what it is that you yourself dream of doing - so at least you know that it is still possible to obtain your dream job.

These two jobs of mine are certainly away from the norm in that I work from home and I don't work for someone else - thus my quizlet result of having my own company! I have wanted to work from home for a long time now and I have finally achieved that - doing something that I love - so my quiz results were certainly right!

So take the quiz yourself, see what answer(s) you get and post about your results here so that we can get to know you better!
